Desert Masks: A Playlist
July was a busy month here at Needle Drop Co. We managed to catalog nearly 500 new songs from around 2o new artists into our library of pre-cleared music for film & video. Among those artists are familiar names like Copy (aka Marius Libman), whose one man IDM dance party has been rocking clubs and parties since the mid 2000’s. Be sure to check out Copy’s stellar new album, “Chalice Agenda” which Willamette Week calls “an austere refinement” to Copy’s repertoire. You’ll find some hidden gems like Robin Allender, whose guitar work with Yann Tiersen keeps him on the road most of the time. Robins acoustic folk and cinematic arrangements are beautiful and expertly-crafted. Riding a wave of pop-weirdness is Joel Magid, Portland’s resident basement recording wizard whose vintage pop is dark and instantly gets stuck in your head with his catchy melodies. Other stand-outs include: Big Haunt, Carpet Musics, Dim Dim, E*Rock, Fantastic Palace, Kai Engel, Lullatone, Máscaras, Melodium, Naim Amore, The Ocean Floor, Set in Sand & Valdi Sabev.
Here’s a sampling of a few of our favorite tracks from our new selections. Check it out and head over to our “New Music” page to hear more.
