I began playing music at a young age and have drawn from a wide variety of influences– the question has never been whether or not I would play music, but rather what kind of music. I grew up listening to folk and soul music, played trumpet in band and wrote string quartets in school, and eventually played in a handful of indie bands as a multi-instrumentalist. During this time I discovered my love for recording and learning new instruments as well as electronic production. Producing musical projects for others and writing music as a singer-songwriter has always been something I’ve enjoyed doing. But as an adult, I started filming and producing videos, which gave me a newfound respect for the power of a good piece of instrumental music. From there, I started pulling old ideas off the shelf, repurposing some, and recording other new songs. This outlet has given me a reason to discover a new sound, write and record a collection of songs around it, and then move on to something completely different, all while still being me, Scott Gratton. Each collection strives to do just that– stay true to my roots, while finding a cohesive and unique sound. I’m also currently co-songwriter along with my wife in the project Young Oaks.
