Colin Jenkins comes from a long line of musicians and music educators. He occupies both roles: a children’s music instructor by day who moonlights by night as the composer of a wide variety of smooth jams. ” He’s been known to share the stage with a number of other bands, including Hockey, Ages and Ages, and Sex Life.
Colin’s main influence is his grandfather, Charles Johnson, an intensely charming jazz crooner who had his heyday singing and playing trombone in the U.S. Navy Jazz Orchestra in the 40’s and 50’s. He also draws inspiration from a wide variety of artists past and present, including Burt Bacharach, Carol King, Paul Anka, Walter Wanderly, Brian Wilson, Cole Porter, William Bell, Anne Murray, Duke Ellington, Smokey Robinson, New Edition, The Bee Gees, King Krule, and Jens Lekman.
