My name is Annalisa Tornfelt and I play fiddle and sing in Black Prairie. I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and both of my parents are orchestra teachers. I am the oldest of five and some of my fondest memories are falling asleep to my parents’ string quartet rehearsals, going to music festivals with the family, and playing violin next to my mom and sister in Handel’s “Messiah”. I never had the patience for ice fishing.

Annalisa Tornfelt is best known as the singer of Decemberists offshoot group Black Prairie. She has toured the world with Black Prairie and done everything from big festivals like Bonnaroo and Newport Folk to an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
