BRIAN PARK

“I’m not tethered to one particular style and can really work directly to discover the emotional core of the work and pair it with the right sounds. Today when left to my own devices I make slow surf inflected tropicalia on rainy days.”

Ennio Morricone is my go-to which you can hear in my soundtrack to the short silent horror movie Tres Brujas. The power, melodrama and vast spatial soundscapes remind me of the desert I grew up in.  I love the power of the juxtaposition of the pairing of audio/visual. Shots can take on completely different significance by changing the sounds beneath them. Happy scenes of familial bliss become harbingers of doom, ultra-violence becomes transcendent.

Brian Park has been making music for over 20 years and currently writes and records original compositions in Portland, Oregon. His early inspirations include Sonic Youth, Thelonious Monk, The Chemical Brothers, and Ennio Morricone.
